The transgender scapegoat: Gavilán Rayna Russom and McKenize Wark, two scholars whose work has been shaped by the writings of René Girard, share an open conversation sparked by Wark’s recent essay, ‘The Scapegoating of Trans People in Trump’s America.’
The two will discuss the work of René Girard on the the ritualization of violence, the theory of the scapegoat, mimetic desire, and how Girard’s thinking can help us understand the attempted expulsion of trans people from public life.
The conversation will be followed by a dialogue with the audience. Free to attend. RSVP required.
