Queer Figure Drawing Circle with Brooklyn Loft

UPDATE: This event has been cancelled. Brooklyn Loft is issuing refunds.

Hive Mind Books is happy to welcome Brooklyn Loft to our bookstore for a special creative evening.

Queer Figure Drawing Circle is a unique session where, instead of a single model, everyone takes a turn posing and sharing about themselves.

Flipping the traditional concept of a figure drawing session, each attendee has the chance to pose while talking to the group about their experiences and inspirations, as well as their favorite book. Meanwhile, the other participants draw them, creating a space for both artistic expression and personal connection.

At the end of the session, there will be time to view each other’s artwork and engage in conversation sparked by the shared experience.

Tickets are $15 (bring your own materials) / $20 (includes materials)

How It Works:

1) Pick Your Pose
Standing, sitting or even laying down. Maybe you're holding a prop? If you feel more comfortable with your back to everyone else, you can do that too :). Poses will range from 2-5 minutes.

2) Tell us about Yourself
You will fill out a short questionnaire when you arrive with questions like "What's your background?", "What art do you create?", "What's something you've done that you're proud of", etc.

While posing, you can share your story. The facilitator will be there with your questionnaire in case you need some help while posing.

3) We'll Draw what we See (and Hear)
While you pose and share, we will draw you. Hearing your story will be unique to each individual in the room. If there is something that resonates with someone, they may write it down and incorporate it into their sketch.
