Comics Artists! Together! At a Queer Bookstore!
Join us at Hive Mind Books for a special reading with a talented crew of comics artists. They’ll share their work, show us slides of their art, talk about the life and craft of the comics artist, and answer your questions. After the show, they’ll sign books!

This event is free and open to the public. We strongly encourage masking and will have masks available for anyone who needs one.
Books will be available for purchase at Hive Mind Books the night of the event. We ask that all books signed at Hive Mind Books events be purchased from Hive Mind Books. If you already have the book(s) and would like to get them signed, we ask that you buy something else at the store while here, if it’s within your means. Thank you for supporting an independent queer bookstore!
About the Artists
Deb Lee (they/them) is a Korean-American Brooklyn-based illustrator. They are the author of the award-winning graphic memoir IN LIMBO.
Rosemary Valero-O’Connell is a cartoonist and illustrator born in Minneapolis, raised in Zaragoza, and currently residing in Brooklyn, New York. She received her BFA in Comic Art from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 2016, and has been making comics full time ever since. Her work has received 2 Eisner awards, 4 Ignatz awards (including “Outstanding Artist” two consecutive years), a Harvey, a Prism, a Society of Illustrators Gold Medal, and a Printz Honor.
April Malig was a graduate student at the Center for Cartoon Studies in White River Junction, VT. Her website is a collection of her comics, illustrations, and photobooks. She currently lives in Queens, New York.
Lonnie Garcia is an illustrator and comic artist that was raised by the coast and hills of Northern California. His work draws inspiration from vintage media, surrealist horror, wild overgrown places and personal experiences to create vibrant and lively pieces. He adores storytelling and loves to experiment with mixing narratives with his fondness of aesthetically pleasing clutter. He currently resides in Portland, OR, drawing cartoons and having a good time.
Grayson Bear is a cartoonist from a smelly fishing town on the Oregon Coast. He currently lives in Brooklyn, NY and is working on his first graphic novel, Superfun. Bear’s work is influenced by the television that raised him, including the wonky forms of early American cartoons and the drama of ’90s anime. His hobbies include touching grass and staying in his lane.
